Please take the time to vote on the following proposal. We've used GWG for some time. Some GMs like it as it just may help a weaker team win a category against a stronger opponent. Other GMs favour FOW because it is a category that is in effect every single game.
GWG are hard to draft/trade for. In a weekly match up, it isn't a category there are few GWG. This is mostly a random category.
FOW is a category that any team can draft or trade for. In a typical week, there are many FOW, so a category like this isn't random at all.
Please feel free to comment as you see fit on this vote.
Please try and get your vote in as soon as possible because we should know which category will win out before we have to be roster compliant.

My vote could go either way here. My concern with FOW is that only one player on the ice can accumulate that stat. It also makes bums like Vernon Fiddler and Manny Malhotra fantasy relevant. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. On the flip side GWG are a boring stat. So boring I don't even have on opinion on it. Lol I'll wait to read some comments before I vote. Someone sell me on one of these two stats!

I like FOW over GWG as sure it does make a specialist at one thing worth it for that one stat but we already do it for PIM so I like the idea of FOW. GWG isn't something you can plan for long term or for weekly matchups either making it a fluke stat cat win each week. Sent from my Nexus S using proboards

i prefer fow. gwg is a lottery category and it is impossible to trade or draft a player for game winning goals.

I like FOW as well over GWG, the only problem is it will significantly increase certain players values. I will vote for FOW but could go either way on this one. It def ups values a good bit for guys like Zib, Geno, Benn, etc on my team(and in the GMHL). I'd like to see how this vote pans out. Maybe wait until 2016-17 to put into effect so teams with crappy FOW players have proper time to adjust... Just a thought maybe to prevent guys from overpaying this offseason...

I don't agree that GWG is really a lottery stat. Certain players are goal scorers which will increase your chance for having more GWG etc. If FOW does become a stat I agree with Lou that there should be a transition year and it should start in the 2016-2017 season.

With the number 1 team having only 80 GWG this season and with something like 55 GWG being the average per team, this means most teams get 2-3 or maybe in the odd week, 4 GWG. This does not lead to a lot of clear cut winners each week and probably more ties here than any other offensive category.
The past two years has seen the top GWG scorer notch 11 GWG, which is not quite 2 a month, or 1 every 2 match ups.
With FOW, there would rarely be a tie. I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather outright lose a category like this than lose GWG 3-2, especially since scoring a GWG is a much more random category than not.
To me, it is more a dud category than not, but I do want to keep the scoring categories ratio at 2:1 for F/D vs G.

Why don't we keep GWG and add FOW?

Why don't we keep GWG and add FOW? A pretty good suggestion.

Because the issue is to get rid of the horrible GWG stat not add additional stats.

I wouldn't say GWG is a horrible stat. It may not be the most exciting stat we use but it is an actual stat used in the NHL whereas total faceoff wins is not a stat used in the NHL. We're coming to the end of a fantastic season, I am of the opinion that we don't need to make any changes to what is the best league I've ever been a part of.

I only had 37 of them last year which had me tied for second last but I voted to keep GWG. I don't feel this category is "a dud category" as Steve stated. To me a dud category is Shut Outs where every team in the league had at least 10+ ties in our 24 week season.

I think GWG is a dud category. If we made it something like OTGWG then it is a little more meaningful but when Ben Lovejoy scores the first goal of the game 5 minutes in and the Pens win 5-0 then it is pretty lame

Since this is a pretty solid majority vote, we're going to drop GWG in favour of FOW. Glenn and I actually talked about keeping it around for 1 more season, but after the last vote, I definitely think it is the best way to go for the league.
