Ok, this is the last vote for today. This poll is based upon a conversation that Glenn, Bill and I had a couple of weeks ago.
This league works pretty well, but in our opinion, it may be skewed just a little too much towards the offensive categories. With G, A, PPP and GWG already, including Points as a category is somewhat redundant. We would like to drop Points outright; however, if the majority of you disagree, we can still keep Points.
If you look at SHP, there simply are not many SHP scored on a weekly basis. The top team had 14 in a 11 week season and 5 teams had 4 or less. To us, this is just too random a category to actually try and plan for when composing your team. Year to year, it is most likely even more open to randomness than anything else. We'd rather drop it outright, but, since it is collectively your league, you should definitely have a say too.
SO is even more random. The top 2 teams each had 7 SO over this shortened season. 9 teams had 3 SO or less total. This category is even more random than SHP and, year to year, it is almost futile to try and build your team around this category.
Please keep in mind that we would like to see the F/D categories maintained at least at a 2:1 ratio over the goaltending categories. With only 1 goaltender and a minimum of 2 starts a week required, there already is more than enough emphasis on the goaltending categories.
Something else to consider is that some leagues do like a lot of categories, which we already have, because it may open up an opportunity for a team to still win the week without having to dominate either the scoring or goaltending categories.
Please feel free to voice your opinions on this vote too.
