There have been a few GMs who approached me wrt roster sizes for next year. Yahoo limits us to 30 total. Currently we are at 25 active roster spots and 3 IR. Increasing to 6 D gives 3 sets of D to every team and makes our league more realistic to the current team composition in the NHL; however, some other teams may be fine with leaving the rosters as is. For some teams, they have been hit by a rash of injuries, so much so, that they could've used another 3 IR positions easily. Other teams remained relatively injury free. How many IR spots should we have. I hope you guys aren't tired of voting yet!

Well guys, I don't think we'll get any more votes on this issue. 9 out of 14 GMs want to add 1 IR spot and 8 out of 14 want to add 1 D.
We'll being adding 1 D for a total of 6D and 1 IR for a total of 4 IR.
Starting this Saturday at 12 PM, teams can add that 1 D to their team. In reality, this gives all teams 1 additional roster spot to use as they see fit.
Thanks for taking the time to vote and express your opinion.

Ok, so 1 D spot and 1 IR added next year. All good. Please unconfuse me here. And no comments from the cheap seats ( Paul, Glenn ). If we can use this spot "as we see fit" then it should be "utility" right? Just asking.

Nah. We're expanding from 5 starting D to 6 and adding one more IR spot.

Thats fine. Then the wording needs to reflect that and not "as we see fit" I'm sure Steve meant it that way but it doesn't read that way is all Bite Me!!!!

Pretty sure that what he meant was that we've created another spot for D on the active roster. Mostly everyone has an extra dman on their bench that they would most likely use there anyway leaving an empty spot on yer bench. Therefore if you move a dman from yer bench to that new 6th dman slot you'd be left with a bench slot where you could sign anyone you want.

The original posting says add 1 D for a total of 6 and 1 IR for a total of 4. You're right, the next part could have been worded better, but what the wording means is that you are not pigeon-holed into picking up an additional D here. You can pick up any player you want beginning Saturday at noon. If you already have 6 or more D, you might want to augment another position on your roster. Beginning in 2013-14, your roster will be: 4C, 4RW, 4LW, 6D, 1G and 7B for a total of 26 rostered players. There will also be 4 IR spots available should you need them. The farm team will increase 2 spots to 18 total.

HA ;D. Good one Lee, but it is far more likely that by using that word I've now done a lot for you to augment your limited vocabulary.

We can add 1 player on Saturday to make pro 26. When can we augment the 2 farm spots? It says beginning of 2013-14 is that after the cup final or start of training camp?

No team will be able to add more than 16 farm eligible players until we have the Entry Draft.
Our Entry Draft will occur after the NHL Entry Draft, most likely sometime in July, depending on when most GMs are available to make their picks.
All GMs will be able to make all picks that they own in the Entry Draft and carry these extra farm team players until shortly before the 2013-14 season begins.
If you only have 1 pick in the Entry Draft, after Round 3 has completed, you may pick up 1 additional farm eligible player.
The Isotopes own 8 picks in the 2013 Entry Draft and they can utilize all of these picks. The Isotopes currently have 14 farm players, so after the Entry Draft, they can hold a maximum of 22 players on their farm team if they use all of the picks that they currently own.
All teams over the 18 player limit for their farm teams must be roster compliant before the 2013-14 regular season begins. I will let you know the deadline date for being roster compliant a few days before the regular season begins.
