This thread is intended to clarify how the waivers are going to be run in the GMHL.
The intent all along was to have Yahoo manage all waiver requests in the league; however, during the offseason, Yahoo is not available, so adds, drops and trades can only be done here on the GMHL site.
Once I've loaded Yahoo with everyone's current roster and activated the site, Yahoo becomes the default means of adding, dropping and trading the assets on your team.
All player transactions that can be handled by Yahoo will be processed on Yahoo.
As Yahoo does not recognize Farm teams, players being sent to your Farm team from your Pro roster will have to handled a little differently.
If you are dropping a Farm eligible player from your Pro roster, you must notify the league of your intentions if you want that player to remain on your Farm team.
All GMs shall adhere to the following when dropping a player to their Farm team from their Pro roster on Yahoo:
- drop the player as you normally would on Yahoo.
- under the recent messages area of the Yahoo League page, post a new topic stating that player X is being sent to the Farm. If you don't have room on your Farm, you must list the player you are dropping here as well;
- Update your Farm transaction on the GMHL proboard site;
- If you do not list your intentions anywhere within 24 hours of this player being dropped on Yahoo, this player will be available to any other team as a waiver pick up.
If you want to add a Farm eligible player that has been dropped and is not being sent to the Farm, Yahoo limitations means that we'll have to handle this waiver request a little differently as Yahoo expects you to drop a player from your roster when you add a player from waivers.
It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have to drop a player from your Pro roster in order to add a prospect to your Farm. To handle this situation, we'll implement the following:
- Put in a waiver claim through Yahoo as you normally would selecting a player to drop (this "drop" will be only temporary).
- email or PM Glenn or myself that you have done this. If you win the waiver pickup, the player you dropped will be added back to your Pro team and we'll put the new player on your Farm.
- This is only for players dropped from a Pro team who show a waiver hold on Yahoo. Players dropped from a Farm team do not have any hold and can be picked up immediately.
This should answer any questions you may have regarding waiver pickups, including Farm eligible players that are dropped from a team but not sent to the Farm.
If this isn't clear, let me know so that I can try and explain it just a little better.
