From Pierre Lebrun's tweet on December 20, 2020:
Puck drop: January 13 Trade deadline: April 12 End of regular season: May 8 Expansion draft: July 21 NHL draft: July 23-24 Free-agent Frenzy: July 28
Other important dates:
- Dates to opt out of 2021 season: Dec 24 for players on non-playoff teams; Dec 27 for players on playoff teams - Group II FA must be signed by February 11 to be eligible for the 2021 season - Players on one-year deals can sign extensions as of March 12
Yahoo has updated their schedules for 2021, but hasn't changed the trade deadline dates yet. Once Yahoo updates their trade deadline dates, our trade deadline will be the closet date after the NHL trade deadline.
Playoffs are 3 weeks long only. The last day to end the playoffs is May 2, so there should be no issues with players sitting out the last week of the season for our playoffs as the NHL regular season ends on May 8. This will give us 12 weeks of H2H competition with the first match up being 12 days long.
