Once again as per our league rules, it is time for our mini competition. The payout of the League prizes is set up so that the non-playoff teams have an opportunity to win some money based upon their team's performance during the last 8 weeks of the season. A $25 prize will be awarded at the end of our regular season to the non-playoff team that, at the end of week 21, has accumulated the most points in league play from weeks 14 through 21 inclusive. As in past years, I'll keep a running tally of the points earned by each team during this mini competition. GMHL Standings going into week 1 of the mini competition, after week 13, are: The Potato Chips - 250 The Forsworn - 247 Ajax Knights - 238 Mississauga Moose - 222 Whitby Wildcats - 205 Oshawa Rush - 204 Lysol Beach Whalers - 204 AC Rebels - 196 Edmonton Clutch - 186 Quinte Hawks - 185 Rangers - 164 Charlestown Chiefs - 157 Barrie Beavers - 154 Bullet HC - 118

Week 5 results:

With 3 weeks to go in the mini competition, it sure looks like AC Rebels is playoffs bound; therefore, I am not recording Hazen's totals in this week's results.
Quinte is in the driver's seat to claim the last playoff spot, but Whitby still has a shot at qualifying for the post-season.
In the mini competition itself, Paul and his Rangers have a slight lead on Andrew and his Wildcats, but there is still a long way to go.
Everyone should note that Lucas' team, the Milwaukee Beers, has taken over the points previously gained by the Barrie Beavers.

Totals:
Quinte Hawks: 94 + 17 = 111 Whitby Wildcats: 60 + 19 = 79 Rangers: 63 + 7 = 70 Edmonton Clutch: 50 + 20 = 70 Milwaukee Beers: 51 + 11 = 62 Charlestown Chiefs: 41 + 10 = 51 Bullet HC: 31 + 9 = 40
Two weeks to go in the mini competition. Andrew and Will still have an excellent chance of making the playoffs. One or both just may beat out Stu for the 8th overall playoff position.

Week 7 results:
Milwaukee Beers: 8-5-2 = 18 Whitby Wildcats: 7-8-0 = 14 Edmonton Clutch: 5-7-3 = 13 Charlestown Chiefs: 6-9-0 = 12 Bullet HC: 5-8-2 = 12 Rangers: 3-10-2 = 8
Totals:
Whitby Wildcats: 79 + 14 = 93 Edmonton Clutch: 70 + 13 = 83 Milwaukee Beers: 62 + 18 = 80 Rangers: 70 + 8 = 78 Charlestown Chiefs: 51 + 12 = 63 Bullet HC: 40 + 12 = 52
One week to go and Andrew's team is the only team with a chance to make the playoffs, but it will be a tough deficit for him to overcome.
Whitby does have the inside track to win the mini competition. With a good week, Adam, Lucas and Paul have the best opportunity to make up ground on Andrew.
