Once again we're coming up on the NHL Draft Lottery which is scheduled for April 28, 2018.
As per our rules, I'll run a random draft generator at fftoolbox.com twice to select the teams that will have the best chance to pick 1st and 2nd overall in the 1st round of our Entry Draft. This will be a modified version of how the NHL conducts its Draft Lottery.
Remember, it is only the 6 non-playoff teams that can actually win the #1 and #2 overall picks in the 2018 Entry Draft. Once the top 2 picks have been decided, the #3 to #14 picks will be based upon the reverse order of the GMHL regular season standings, which was:
1. TopShelf
2. Charlestown Chiefs
3. Boca Breeze
4. AC Rebels
5. Edmonton Clutch
6. The Potato Chips
7. Whitby Wildcats
8. Mississauga Moose
9. Lysol Beach Whalers
10. Milwaukee Beers
11. Ajax Knights
12. Barrie Beavers
13. Oshawa Rush
14. The Forsworn
The winner of the first draw will be assigned the Buffalo Sabres and the winner of the second draw will be assigned the Ottawa Senators.
As most of you know, the NHL will reveal the reverse order of the NHL Entry Draft on live TV for the 15 non-playoff teams. For our purposes, if an NHL team that finished with the 7th worse record to the 15th worse record wins the lottery draw to determine either the #1 or #2 pick, then we'll go with the reverse order of the GMHL regular season finish to determine the top 2 picks.
