Shut outs are he ultimate goalie feat. Teams should be rewarded for it.

This should be kept as it is a standard goalie category

I think it is just about the shittiest stat out there that we use mostly because there are so many weeks where we have ties. I had a look at the overall record with Glenn a few weeks back and the totals are 91 wins, 91 losses and 136 ties. It is ridiculous how many match ups ended in ties. That is something like 43% of the time where no decision has been made.
The next closest category with a lot of ties is wins, but there was only 62 tie match ups; still a lot, but not having wins as a goalie cat would be just plain dumb.
As for overall stats consider that 48 of 91 wins were from only 5 teams. Of the 136 SO in the league, the top 6 teams accounted for 78 of them.
If you lost SHO as a category, I don't think it would matter one iota. It is a useless cat that only favours teams that have great goaltending.

Shut outs are he ultimate goalie feat. Teams should be rewarded for it. Yes.. But there aren't enough on a weekly basis. 95% of the time it ends up a 0-0 tally in H2H formats. In a rotisserie league... i'm 100% with you. But keeping SO's in a H2H could easily be likened to adding hat tricks. Great honour for the Hatty - absolutely!! But practical for this format?

Shut outs are he ultimate goalie feat. Teams should be rewarded for it. Just like PIMs, if this was a full year roto league then I would agree with you. It's not, so I disagree completely. If a goalie gets 8 shutouts in a year you should be rewarded but on a weekly basis its stupid. It's a total fluke and completely random. You can have Price and get a shutout and I get lucky with a random back up that gets a start and a shutout. I deserve the tie for that?? Please. REMOVE SO

Um yep that would be a tie. All the categories and stats each week are random thats why we play the games. By your logic one guys stats are more valuable because he's a star? So if Crosby gets a hat trick and Tom Wilson on my team gets a hat trick it shouldnt be a tie because Crosby is better??

While we are chatting about goalies...anyone think this league would be better with 1 starting goalie instead of the 2 we currently use?

get rid of the shut outs. it doesn't happen enough in head to head to be a valuable stat. if your guy does get a shutout it still helps you in the gaa and sv% so you don't lose out totally by not counting shutouts as a separate stat.

The league finals ends tied 7-7 The winner is decided on a stupid tie breaker meanwhile the loser had 2 shutouts that week but its not a category anymore. Thatd be a shitty situation and thats why it needs to stay.

Keep it. It's a nice tiebreaker type category for a weekly matchup, and it's something that should be rewarded.
