Poll Questions for 2017-18 season.

We've been approached by a couple of GMs who are interested in removing a couple of categories that we currently use in the GMHL. The reason we are considering dropping categories is to try and make this league better. To make it better, the categories should ideally be centred around things we can actually plan around and not so much just blind luck.

Please keep in mind that if we remove 1 of the scoring categories for skaters, we must also drop a goalie category.

The categories under consideration are Penalty Minutes (PIM), Shutouts (SHO) and plus/minus (+/-).

We are also going to consider dropping the weekly moves to a maximum of 7 per week instead of the current 10.

Lastly, a number of GMs have mentioned that they would like to start the playoffs a week earlier than we currently do because they feel too many of their players are held out of games by their NHL teams during the last week of the NHL season. The ideal would be a 2 week final match up; however, Yahoo doesn't offer this option very often. If we vote to start the playoffs 1 week earlier, I think we should override this particular option if a 2 week final is available to us.

all good suggestions. PIMs are becoming dinosaurs in general. Unbelievable how few guys cracked 100 this year. shutouts--while I'm still good with them in roto leagues..i believe are not ideal for H2H for a # of reasons---the most of which being frequency---on average..even with carrying a handful of keepers, is less than 1 SO per week. that to me simply is not enough quantity to merit being a worthwhile category.

Most long term leagues I'm in have eventually cut out "+/-" and "shutouts' so I'm all for cutting those out.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to vote on these polls. Even though I pushed to drop a few different categories, you have collectively decided to keep them all.

The only change we'll be implementing is that we'll start the playoffs one week earlier to avoid the possibility that your star players are sitting on the bench during the final week of our playoffs.
