As this is the final day of our 5th season here on Yahoo, I thought I would provide an update to everyone as we go into our off season.
This off season will see us return to how we usually have run things once the regular season has completed.
All teams will be required to get to 47 players total within two weeks of our season ending, so let's go with April 22nd at 12 PM noon EDT as the time that all teams must be roster compliant.
You can have a maximum of 27 Pro players and 20 Farm players. Any player who was farm eligible at the beginning of the 2016-17 season will retain his farm eligibility until the end of September 2017, just before the start of next season, so it shouldn't be too difficult for everyone to make their required moves within this 2 week period.
Any team carrying players on IR+ will have to either place these players on their roster or drop them outright so that their teams are compliant.
If you still have roster moves available to you, today is the last day you can make additions to your team prior to when the league re-starts, which if we're ready to go will be Sunday April 23 at 12 noon EDT.
The payout of the prize money will also during this time frame so anybody that is in the money should let Glenn know as soon as possible what they want done with their winnings.
We also want all GMs to pay their franchise fees for the 2017-18 season before this deadline of April 22, 2017. Hopefully, everyone will be back next year for what promises to be another highly competitive fantasy hockey experience.

If any GM has any ideas to bring forward to possibly improve the league for next season, please let us know soonest. Ideally we will implement any changes before the teams have to be roster compliant.

Hey Steve, not sure what other GM's think on this one, but is it possible to start the playoffs a week earlier next year? This will eliminate the last week of the season and avoid player issues/starts for NHL teams that like to rest their players prior to the playoff rounds. I am guessing this has been an issue with most GM's in the final round of the playoffs this year, but its hard to make a push or make up ground if u are behind in the week when 7 of your starting 10 players are being kept out of games to get rest for the playoffs. This will also ensure the league remains competitive and results are not affected by players being sat for playoff runs.

agreed fully. I think this is common practice in NFL leagues as well...and should be looked at for integration in all hockey formats, if possible.

I've heard this complaint from other GMs in other leagues before. My personal viewpoint is that it really doesn't seem to have that big an impact; after all, your opposition is just as likely to have their star players sit out as well, so in my opinion, it should mostly equal out. I also don't like ending our league before the NHL season finishes. That being said, yes, the playoffs can start a week earlier as Yahoo does have that option I do believe. We could put the matter up to a vote and go with the consensus opinion for sure. I'd love to have a 2 week final but Yahoo hasn't had that option for at least the last 3 years. I think it makes for a much better match up for sure. I really don't know if we'll see that option again as Yahoo has combined the first 2 weeks of the season and generally combines the 2 weeks surrounding the all-star break.

Wasn't even a close one, lol. I agree with Andrew and think we should put it to a vote. Kinda sucks getting to the finals with guys you've used all year then having half a dozen get sat on the final weekend. Just my opinion though.

I'm up for a vote.
Also - I've long been a proponent of a 2 week final. Not sure why Yahoo doesn't allow us to customize these things. i.e. choose combined final vs combined week #1. hopefully they will at some point.

Andrew sent me a reminder regarding the availability of the 2020 draft picks. They will be added to everyone's team on the Future Draft Picks page shortly.
