No, I asked Steve that same question about 4 days ago. Only reason there was a freeze last year was cuz we had a 1 round waiver draft after the prospect draft. He said you can still make adds/drops. You just can't choose any 2015 draft eligible players or players in that 3 year draft window... |

What I told Lou is indeed true. Glenn and I talked about this at length this afternoon about what is in the best interests of the league here. I went and looked at the old rules for the prospect drafts in 2013 and 2014. The only stipulation in these drafts is that you could not pick up a FA who was farm eligible while the prospect draft was ongoing.
By the same token, during previous dispersal drafts or the free agent draft in 2014, you could not add any FA while these drafts were underway.
As you can only pick up farm eligible players during the prospect draft, their is no conflict of interest and no reason why there should be any restriction.
I'm sorry I wasn't clearer in explaining this finer point in FA pick ups. Lou took the time to enquire if this was allowed as could any other GM that was contemplating a FA add during the prospect draft.
The add of Alexander Semin by Legs is valid.
