I do like the limiting of moves but I think it should be the max here at 10/week. Maybe later on, like 2016-17, we could move down to 7-8.
I think ten its a good number for next year because of Anthony's point, but I don't agree that we shouldn't have a cap. At least this way with 10 moves it still gives teams like mine and Anthony's a little more time to adjust to the change. Then the following year talk about dropping to 7-8...
Just a thought...

Lou, trust me. We are considering the best way to implement any changes, just as we do for anything we are contemplating changing. Please do continue to share your thoughts on this topic or anything else we do bring forth, simply because your and anyone else's ideas do help us reach a consensus opinion on what is best for our league.

I'm in favor of 7-10 moves per week and voted as such. Makes people decide and commit to certain fringe players to their roster. A move a day, so 7 per week, is my preference.
Mike put it best imo "quality over quantity".

I still think it should be 10 next year, maybe 7 the year after. See how 10 pans out for a year and if its still too much, then drop it down a little more. Allows for a little more time to adjust...

I think that it is great that all GMs took the time to vote on this important matter. I am also pleased to see so many of you voice your opinion too. It is these opinions that help us make what we believe are the best decisions for the GMHL and we cannot do this without your input.
We have a very clear majority rule of over 70% in favour of limiting the maximum moves a team is allowed each week. Since this is a fairly significant change for some teams, we will be limiting the maximum number of moves beginning in the 2015-16 season to 10 per week
Depending how the rest of you feel, we may vote on whether to maintain a maximum of 10 moves per week the following year, that would be 2016-17, or perhaps lower that amount to 7.
Now I know some GMs are not in favour of this move at all, but Glenn and I truly believe that this is in the best interest of the league and the league's integrity too. We also believe that having 6 months to prepare your team is more than adequate as the two most vociferous objectors are well known to be very active traders.
When I looked at some data a couple of weeks ago, every team that streamed farm players at least to some extent; i.e. 9+ moves or more per week, will all have at least 27 players on their team at this season's end that are not farm eligible for the 2015-16 season. If any of these teams were looking to employ a streaming strategy such as what has taken place this year, then they would have needed to make some major moves to be able to set this strategy up for the 2015-16 season. My point here is, pretty much every team is in the same situation and I don't believe that any GM is really being treated any differently here that any other GM.
When this league was first set up, which actually predates the GMHL, the limiting of moves was a very big part of how teams would manage their assets in that it wasn't supposed to be all about how good a GM was at streaming. It was envisaged that farm teams would be a major component of all teams.
That being said, some GMs have chosen to use their farm teams as an extension of their bench so that they could stream the maximum amount of farm eligible players through their lineup each week. Up until this point, that was indeed within the rules, although many would point out that this was an unfair advantage; albeit, this farm team usage was open to any GM who chose to utilize it.
Anyone that has been in this league for any length of time knows that Glenn and I are very keen on seeing a level playing field for all teams. Not every GM has the time or inclination to manage their team in the same manner, so a team that employs daily streaming of their farm players does have a significant advantage over their opposition. If you win your match up because you can get an extra 30 or more games in by streaming your farm players while your opposition gets in less than 10, then this is an unfair advantage and this is what most of you believe should be changed.
Now it is not really possible to mimic the real NHL in fantasy hockey, but there isn't any reason why we can't make it as realistic as we can. No NHL team can stream farm players like what we have seen this past couple of years. The LA Kings and Chicago Blackhawks did not win the Stanley Cup by streaming and you shouldn't be able to be the GMHL Champion by utilizing this strategy either.
The team that wins the Stanley Cup is the team that puts together the best team. What we want here is the same thing; that is, the GM who puts together the best team should be the team that takes home the GMHL Championship.

I agree totally with that statement Steve. Great job done by you and Glenn. Keep up the awesome work. I'm all for the change. And I'll be one of the guys making a number of offseason trades lol...
