The three co-commissioners sat down to talk about where we are going with the league next season. We're not going to implement any major changes, but there are a few things we did consider.
We're going to have a vote on Anth's proposal about our draft lottery. We hope everyone agrees that it is probably a much better way of doing our draft lottery. Please vote on this proposal and state why you support or don't support it.
IR+ will be going back to 4 for next season. We only implemented this change because of the impact of the pandemic. We will continue to monitor this because COVID-19 may impact the league again next season; for now, it will go back to 4 IR+.
There was a fair amount of controversy raised the last couple of months of the season with regards to placing players on IR+ that were not showing that status on Yahoo. Over the past couple of years, we've been pretty liberal with allowing players to go on IR+ regardless of what Yahoo stated, provided of course, a GM could offer irrefutable proof that the players should be on IR+. To be consistent and fair to everyone, from now on, we'll follow whatever status Yahoo uses for a player; therefore, only when Yahoo indicates that a player is Out (O), Day-To-Day (DTD), Injured Reserve-long term (IR-LT), or Injured Reserve (IR) will you be able to place a player on IR+ - in other words, we'll go with the Yahoo designations 100% of the time.
There was one proposal where we were asked to consider limiting the number of players a GM could have on his roster during the offseason. We decided amongst ourselves to keep the status quo because every team has to be compliant before we restart our season and before the first match up in the new NHL season. We think it is much better to allow GMs the most flexibility possible as they seek to build the best team they possibly can.
If anyone has anything else has anything they want to consider, please let us know as soon as possible.
